The Center for Arts + Social Justice’s mission is to support, equip, and elevate the impact of emerging artists in their communities for social good. The Center endeavors to do so in collaborative partnership with Center Fellows, to leverage our collective expertise in providing unique remote mentorship, professional development, and community engagement opportunities that will result in establishing a cohesive network of artistic impact.
Inspired by the belief that the arts “have the ability not only to reflect reality but also to create it,” the Vermont College of Fine Arts established The Center for Arts + Social Justice as a new initiative and one of its four strategic pillars in 2019. In the summer of 2021, the Center announced its first slate of programming, including academic fellowships, sponsored residency guests, and a public event series.
