Vanessa Miranda

Visual Art

2022

Vanessa Miranda received Center support for her project “Ver La Raza” (See the People), which aims to begin conversations with the Chicano community in Clovis, New Mexico. “Ver La Raza” hopes to spark conversations about the current climate of Clovis and what changes the community would like to see implemented in order to better the people.

Through the project, Miranda will host a series of events featuring her past artistic works, and free Mole will be served. At these events, video and audio of the conversations will be collected and later projected onto several quilts of Papel Picados. After exhibiting the work at VCFA, Miranda plans to show the work in a non-traditional gallery space in hopes that it will provoke further dialogue about changes that need to be made within the city.
